Hello friends and strangers! I am very happy to announce a new project that I am working on! I have been given an incredible opportunity to direct a documentary that will be filmed all over the world! The film is partly about an awesome charity that I've been involved with for a few years called Global Grins! Global Grins counts on travelers like you and me to deliver toothbrushes to the needy worldwide! Yes, across THE ENTIRE PLANET! Global Grins has delivered about 500,000 toothbrushes to nearly 100 countries! If you are about to take your next adventure, just email Global Grins, let them know where you're going and they will ship you a box of 100 toothbrushes to take with you for FREE! Take some pictures or videos from your deliveries and Global Grins will put them on their website and Facebook page! I've taken toothbrushes with me on all of my backpack trips the past few years and it definitely adds a special dimension to my travels and sometimes is the highlight of my entire trip! Giving away a toothbrush and teaching people about proper oral hygiene can prevent cancer, heart disease, diabetes and more. I've been fortunate to visit some some pretty remote locations and sometimes deliver toothbrushes to kids who have never used one in their life. Did you know that Billions of people don't use a toothbrush, and there are more cell phones than toothbrushes in the world!? An awesome part about freelancing in the yachting industry is that I am able to work for a month and take off the following month, so I have plenty of time to take some trips and work on the film! The film is also about the backpacking experience and the founders of Global Grins, Todd and Joselyn Miller. Joselyn recently battled a rare blood disease called Shulman's Syndrome which led to Aplastic Anemia. She has an incredible story and she is one of the most inspiring people I know. Joselyn has a foul-mouthed, motivational and hilarious blog that she started while going through her chemo treatments, more than 100 blood transfusions, and a bone marrow transplant. Joselyn now writes about her ongoing recovery, side effects, as well as her passion for life! While my motto is YOLO, Joselyn's second chance at life has inspired the term YOLT (You Only Live Twice)! Check out her kick-ass blog here: http://joselynsbrawlwithshulmanssyndrome.wordpress.com One of the reasons why I love delivering toothbrushes is because it forces me to interact with locals, and because I love photographing people from around the world, it provides the perfect opportunity to capture smiling faces! In the Galapagos, I met and traveled with two friends who helped me film toothbrush deliveries over the next few weeks in Ecuador. They loved the concept, and enjoyed the experience of making peoples day, everyday! The footage will be saved for the film, but here are some photos from my deliveries to a village in the Ecuadorian Amazon and in the highlands of the Andes Mountains in Quilotoa and Chugchilan. Don't forget to visit www.GlobalGrins.org or search "Global Grins" on Facebook and Twitter! Get involved! Get a box of 100 toothbrushes today! More information on the documentary to follow in the coming weeks! Enjoy the pics!
